This Privacy Policy describes how About Life (“the App”), published by the operator of bepevents.co.uk, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our iOS and Android applications.
About Life is a separate app from Event Junction. Learn more on our About Life information page.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Who we are
About Life is a motivational lifestyle app offering life-skills content, guided journeys, games, journaling, and optional AI coaching.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the App, we may collect:
- Account information — name, email address, and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication when cloud sign-in is enabled).
- Profile & preferences — life stage, focus areas, and optional age band you choose during onboarding.
- App activity & progress — XP, streaks, badges, journey progress, game results, mood check-ins, wellness habits, and daily routine actions.
- Journal entries — text you save in the in-app journal (synced to our cloud database when you are signed in with Firebase enabled).
- Coach chat — messages you send to the in-app Life Coach (stored locally and, when signed in, synced to your cloud account).
- Subscription status — whether you are in a free trial or have an active premium subscription (handled by Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not receive your payment card details).
- Technical & diagnostic data — when Firebase is enabled, we may receive crash reports and basic analytics to improve stability (via Firebase Crashlytics / Analytics).
3. Guest mode
You may use the App as a guest without creating an account. Guest data is stored on your device only and is not synced to our servers.
4. Optional AI Life Coach
The AI Coach is optional. If you enter your own API key (for example, an OpenAI-compatible provider), your chat prompts are sent directly to that provider according to their privacy policy. We do not sell your coach conversations. When no API key is set, the App may use built-in offline guidance that does not leave your device.
5. How we use your information
- Provide and personalise the App (tips, journeys, games, and content matched to your profile).
- Sync your progress across devices when you sign in.
- Manage free trials and premium access.
- Send optional local reminders you enable in the App.
- Improve reliability and fix bugs.
- Respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
6. Where data is stored
When cloud sync is enabled, account and app data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Authentication), hosted on infrastructure operated by Google. Data may be processed in regions where Google operates Firebase services.
Local data on your device is stored using the App’s on-device storage until you delete the App or clear its data.
7. Third-party services
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, cloud database, crash reporting.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — subscription billing and restore purchases.
- Your AI provider (optional) — only if you supply an API key for the Life Coach.
Each third party has its own privacy terms. We encourage you to review them.
8. Subscriptions & payments
Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google. We receive confirmation of subscription status but not your full payment details. Billing, refunds, and cancellation are governed by the store you used to subscribe.
Deleting your About Life account does not automatically cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription — cancel separately in your device subscription settings.
9. Data retention & deletion
We retain your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the App.
In-app account deletion: signed-in users can permanently delete their account from Profile → Delete my account. This removes your profile, progress, journal, coach chat history, and cloud backup associated with that account.
You may also request deletion by emailing support@aboutlife.app. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Uninstalling the App removes local data from your device but may not delete cloud data until you delete your account or contact us.
10. Children
About Life is designed for a general audience including young people learning life skills. The App is not directed at children under 13 to create accounts without parental involvement. If you believe a child has provided personal information without consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and Firebase security rules so users can only access their own synced data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the UK and EEA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact support@aboutlife.app to exercise these rights.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
